The first trailer has been released for George Clooney's new directorial effort, The Boys in the Boat.
The movie is based on the novel of the same name and tells the story of the American Olympic rowing team and their efforts to win gold in the 1936 Olympics up against the might of the Germany team, with Adolf Hitler present at the games.
The official premise:
'The non-fiction novel describes the University of Washington crew that represented the United States in the Men's eight at the 1936 Summer Olympic games in Berlin, including the coaches, boatbuilder George Pocock, and the working class student athletes involved, especially rower Joe Rantz, who was effectively abandoned by his family and left to fend for himself at a young age.'
It stars Callum Turner, Joel Edgerton, Jack Mulhern, Sam Strike, Peter Guinness, Alec Newman, Luke Slattery, and Thomas Elms among others.
Clooney previously explained what we can expect from the movie.
"Rowing, particularly in the 1920s, was the number one attended sport in the United States," he explained.
"The Boys in the Boat is about strong, tough kids, but they were poor and hungry. They're rowing because it was the only way they could stay in college. The stakes were much higher for them, and it gave them an edge."
