Spider-Man: No Way Home ended on a highly emotional note, with the entire world forgetting about the existence of Peter Parker.
In the events of No Way Home, Peter enlists the help of Doctor Strange to manipulate time, space and memory so that his identity as Spider-Man can become a secret again after Mysterio outed him as the superhero in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
When Strange's spell goes wrong, the multiverse expands and fans got to see the likes of Doctor Octopus, The Green Goblin and Electro from previous Spider-Man movies enter the new reality to cause mayhem.
Luckily, Peter had the help of his fellow Peters, as Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprised their roles as Spider-Man from their own respective movies.
However, Peter is forced to make an impossible decision at the conclusion of No Way Home. Either his reality is infested with villains, or his existence is wiped from the memories of everyone, including best friend Ned and girlfriend MJ.
Spider-Man: No Way Home cliffhanger
He chooses, the latter, and Jacob Battalon, who plays Ned, has reflected on the ending.
“We all very much were crying, our last day of work," he told Collider.
"Even at the premiere, we were all crying. It was such a beautiful experience to be a part of, I think for all of us. We started at a very young age, being teenagers, essentially, when we started the first movie. And to really watch the arc of the movies come together and all of our characters come full circle, I would say that it was crazy.
"It was a crazy thing to read.
"It was crazy to see Andrew and Tobey in the script. It was crazy to have all the villains in the script. And then, to have it end the way it did, on such a cliffhanger, obviously, everyone wasn't expecting that. I would say that it's such a poignant ending to our movies. It really puts an exclamation on the continuance of Spider-Man, but maybe not with us, and I think that's a great thing.
"We may not necessarily be a part of it, in the end, but it was a beautiful ride anyway.”
At the moment, there are no plans for Battalon, Tom Holland or Zendaya to reprise their roles in any further instalments.
