These days, Marvel can attract A-list stars due to how much of a money-making behemoth the movies have become, but before the MCU was established, Rudd says it wasn't that desireable.
"My agent set up a meeting with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige," Rudd recalled toMen's Health.
"Marvel was pretty new. They weren’t even part of Disney. It would’ve been like somebody saying, How would you feel about doing Dancing with the Stars? A superhero franchise was never on my radar."
However, when the opportunity to become a superhero presented itself to Rudd, he ultimately jumped at the opportunity to do something completely different to any project in his career up until that point.
"I never really thought I was the type of actor that they would offer any of those parts to," he continued.
"But when this idea came around, I was excited about doing something that was so out of left field, and I knew that if it was announced that I was going to be joining a superhero franchise, most people would say, What the f***? And I got to wear a superhero suit."
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Rudd will next appear as Scott Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third entry in the Ant-Man franchise.
It will see Scott, alongside family members Cassie, Hope, Hank and Janet, sucked into the quantum realm where they will encounter Kang the Conqeuror.
