Elizabeth Olsen has confirmed that Daniel Craig was meant to feature in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The second movie in the Doctor Strange series saw a number of actors make cameos, including John Krasinski as Reed Richards / Mr Fantastic, Chiwotel Ejiofor as Karl Mordor, Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter / Captain Carter, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau / Captain Marvel and Anson Mount as Blackagar Boltagon / Black Bolt.
According to reports prior to the movie's release, Bond star Craig was meant to play Balder the Brave, the brother of Thor.
Olsen has revealed that she believed the news was true at the time.
"Yes, that's what I thought was going to happen," Olsen told host Josh Horowitz about the cameo on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
"I saw the art. They made a costume. They had a design.
"There's a point in making the movie where I just stopped reading drafts. I was just like, 'This is going to change again. Just keep me posted with the information I need and you guys fill in the blanks that you need. But I'll just keep (in) my lane.' That one was a wild ride."
Craig responds to Doctor Strange rumours
Eventually, reports suggested that Craig could not appear in Doctor Strange 2 due to his commitments to No Time to Die as well as the ongoing pandemic.
He certainly played coy when asked about it by Horowitz, saying:
"Unbelievable, isn't it? I don't know what you're talking about."
It is indeed possible that Marvel have advised Craig not to give too much away about his alleged role, as he may be called back to appear in a future Marvel movie.
