Marvel studious president Kevin Fiege has denied suggestions that movie audiences are suffering from 'superhero fatigue' due to the amount of projects being released.

To date, over 30 movies have been released that are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while there are plenty of films and TV shows that have been released from DC Comics also.

With the emergence of Disney+, fans are encouraged to watch television shows based around the MCU, too, meaning a lot of content needs to be taken in for ultimate understanding of certain stories.

Critically, the MCU is going through a bit of a lull as projects like Thor: Love and Thunder, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania did not receive as positive reviews as previous entries in that world.

In 2023 alone, Marvel has or will release Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 and The Marvels, while What If...?, Secret Invasion, Loie, Ironheart, Echo and Agatha: Coven of Chaos are scheduled for streaming.

Fiege, though, believes there is no difference between adapting comic books and adapting novels.

“I’ve been at Marvel Studios for 22 years now, over 22 years, and most of us here at Marvel Studios have been around a decade or longer together," he said on The Movie Business podcast when asked about 'superhero movie fatigue'.

"And from probably my 2nd year at Marvel people were asking ‘well, how long is this going to last? Is this fad of comic book movies going to end?'

"And I didn’t really understand the question. Because to me it was akin to saying after Gone With The Wind ‘well how many more movies can be made off of novels? Do you think the audience will sour on movies being adapted from books?'

"Well, you would never ask that because there is an inherent understanding among most people that a book can be anything. A novel can have any type of story whatsoever, so it all depends on what story you’re translating. No comic readers don’t understand it’s the same thing in comics.

"There’re 80 years of the most interesting, emotional, groundbreaking stories that have been told in the Marvel comics and it is our great privilege to be able to take what we and adapt them.”
