Liam Neeson has ruled out a live-action return as Qui-Gon Jinn in the Star Wars universe, insisting he's "too f**king old" to portray the Jedi Knight again.
The Irishman first portrayed Qui-Gon in Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace in 1999. At the conclusion of that movie, the character met his death at the hands of Darth Maul.
Neeson would make a surprise cameo as Qui-Gon in the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series, appearing as a 'Force Ghost'.
But, that appearance would appear to be his last.
"I enjoyed very much being with Ewan (McGregor) and George Lucas on The Phantom Menace," Neeson recalled to ScreenRant.
"We shot that 26 years ago! Would I do it again? I don't think so. Too f**king old, ya know? I can't see the situation, I really can't, you know?"
Neeson's comments come when a raft of Star Wars characters have made triumphant returns in recent years, including Obi-Wan Kenobi himself Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.
Neeson: There's too much Star Wars content
After Disney purchased Star Wars and Lucasfilm in 2012, the studio quickly started production on a new sequel trilogy as well as various movie and television spin-offs.
The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor and Ahsoka have all been released on Disney+ over the last couple of years.
And, Neeson believes there's too much Star Wars content.
"I mean it is a cult. There's so many movies and spin-offs now I think it's diluting the whole thing," he said on Conan O'Brien's podcast.
"That's my personal thing."
