Jodie Foster has revealed that she was offered the role of Princess Leia in Star Wars.
To Star Wars fans, there is and there will only ever be one Princess Leia and that is the late, great Carrie Fisher, who hit superstardom after starring in the original trilogy.
But, things could have been very different if George Lucas got one of his original choices for the role, as Foster had to turn the offer down due to her commitments on Freaky Friday.
“I was (offered the role), but I had a conflict,” she said on Tonight with Jimmy Fallon.
“I was doing a Disney movie, and I just didn’t want to pull out of the Disney movie because I was already under contract, so I didn’t do it. And, you know, they did an amazing job. I don’t know how good I would have been!"
Foster went on to become one of the most acclaimed actresses of her generation.
She is the recipient of two Academy Awards for Best Actress for her performances in The Accused and The Silence of the Lambs.
She is currently promoting the fourth season of True Detective.
