Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of 2023.

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a bit of a lull following a few badly received movies, the Guardians are being relied upon to get the MCU back to its best.

Even though fans are eager to see what happens in the movie itself, like every Marvel film, they also want to see what happens within the wider MCU via post-credits scenes.

Responding to a fan question on Instagram, writer and director James Gunn confirmed that there will be two post-credits scenes for fans to enjoy, at least one of which will likely relate to a future movie in the MCU.

The first movie in the franchise was released in 2014 and starred Chris Pratt as Quill, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, with the latter two actors performing voice roles.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 was released in 2017, while the final entry in the trilogy, Vol.3, will hit cinemas in May of 2023.

Even though Quill is the de facto leader of the group, with Vol.2, in particular, focusing on his family, Gunn actually reckons Rocket is the true protagonist of the trilogy.

“I would say Peter's kind of a mess. I think he's suffering from major detachment issues," the director told Empire.

"For me, Rocket was always the secret protagonist of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. You've never seen Rocket in any movie not do something altruistic. He's never done anything other than for his friends. He's not a hero in the typical sense of the word. Telling his story was really important to me."

Judging from the latest trailer, it appears that we will learn more about Rocket's back story.

What can we expect from Adam Warlock in Vol.3?

The primary antagonist of Vol.3 will be Adam Warlock, played by Will Poulter.

The appearance of Warlock was teased at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 when the villainous Ayesha said she had created a being named 'Adam' to defeat the Guardians.

The entire reason for Warlock's existence within the movie is to destroy the Guardians of the Galaxy, but Gunn says things are more "complicated" than that.

“It’s kind of more complicated than that,” he tells Empire when asked about Warlock's intentions.

“But he’s definitely not a good guy. What we’re seeing is the infant form of Warlock, newly out of the cocoon, and he does not understand life very well. He’s basically a baby.”

Poulter allegedly beat off competition from Bridgerton's Rege-Jean Page and 1917's George MacKay to land the role of Warlock.
