Halloween Ends director David Gordon Green says there is not a confirmed ending to the movie yet, as his decision on how to end it is changing every day.
Jamie Lee Curtis first played the character of Laurie Strode in 1978's John Carpenter classic Halloween, where she successfully survived the murderous rampage of the masked serial killer, Michael Myers.
She has played the role in several other entries in the movie series, most of which received negative reviews, but the franchise received a popular reboot in 2018 with Halloween, which was followed by Halloween Kills.
The sequel trilogy will conclude with Halloween Ends, which will be released in October of 2022.
According Green, though, exactly how it ends, has not been decided.
"It changes every day,”he told Empire.
“In theory, the picture is locked, but this morning I called the editor and said, ‘What if we do this one thing...'
“I speak wth John and Jamie Lee Curtis regularly about it. It’s exciting, uncertain, satisfying and sad. I’ve enjoyed the ride but it’s probably time to get off. I think we’re gonna go out with a bang.”
Halloween Ends details
Franchise creator Carpenter has teased some surprises for Halloween Ends, telling SyFy:
"Well, it's Halloween, and it ends. You'll see it's a departure from the others. It's interesting. Dave is a really good director. I love working with him."
Carpenter was speaking of his relationship with director Green, who is at the helm of the latest trilogy.
Green previously suggested that Halloween Ends could have an even darker tone than the previous two films.
"There's not a lot of games in it, there's not a lot of wittiness and retro joy,” Green explained.
“It's kind of a coming-of-age film, and it's a very different tone. And that's what excited me about it, is to have the three chapters that I've been involved in be very different from each other.
"They are all there to honour Carpenter, but aren't necessary just emulating him."
