Jon Hamm has responded to internet speculation that he could join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Around the time of the release of X-Men: Apocalypse, rumours spread that Hamm might have been cast as supervillain Mister Sinister.
That didn't happen, and the X-Men prequel trilogy fizzled out with the critically panned X-Men: Dark Phoenix movie.
Now that Marvel has the rights to X-Men again, the characters are widely expected to join the MCU in the near future.
And, those Mister Sinister rumours have circulated again for Hamm.
"Yeah, I don't know. Sometimes I find out more about my career from the internet than I actually find out from my agents," he said in a conversation with ComicBookMovie.
"So, I didn't really know that was in the works until somebody told me that I didn't get it or it didn't happen.
“I really don't know. Like anybody else, I would be thrilled to be part of that storytelling having been a big comic book fan throughout my early teens and early twenties, so we'll see
"I don't know. It would be a fun person to play, that's for sure. I look good in purple, I'll put it that way."
Who is Mister Sinister?
Mister Sinister is a Marvel supervillain and a frequent enemy of the X-Men.
In the comics, he is born Nathaniel Essex, a scientist fascinated with the work of Charles Darwin. He wishes to create a race of superhumans and when made aware of the presence of mutants in the world, he teams up with fellow supervillain Apocalypse to engineer a mutant superhuman race.
He has the ability to regenerate and also to transfer his mind into the body of another should his body be destroyed.
All of his powers come from self-experimentation.
