The first trailer has been released for the upcoming sequel to Knives Out, titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
The first Knives Out movie was released in 2019 and told the story of Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), a private detective investigating the death of a wealthy businessman.
It featured an impressive ensemble cast, as in addition to Craig we saw Ana de Armas, Christopher Plummer, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Michael Shannon, Toni Colette, Don Johnson, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell.
Knives Out received critical acclaim for its acting, directing and screenplay, with the screenplay being nominated for an Academy Award.
It was also a commercial success, earning $311 million on a budget of $40m.
In March of 2021, it was announced that Netflix had purchased the rights for two Knives Out sequels for $469m, with Rian Johnson returning to direct and Craig returning as Benoit Blanc.
The southern sleuth from the first movie is the only returning character, with the rest of the cast for the second Knives Out feature including Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista.
The official premise for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is:
"Tech billionaire Miles Bron (Norton) invites his friends for a getaway on his private Greek island. When someone turns up dead, Detective Benoit Blanc is put on the case."
