Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has again teased a potential feud between Black Adam and Superman in the DC Extended Universe.
In October of 2022, Black Adam will be released with Johnson in the title role. The official premise for the movie reads as:
'After nearly five thousand years of imprisonment, Black Adam, an antihero from the ancient city of Kahndaq, is unleashed into modern times. His brute tactics and way of justice attract the attention of the Justice Society of America, who tries to stop his rampage, teach him how to be a hero more than a villain, and must team up to stop a force more powerful than Adam himself.'
In the weeks leading up to the release of Black Adam, Johnson has been teasing a potential cameo from Superman, who was previously played by Henry Cavill in the DCEU.
He has now said he "absolutely" wants to see the pair face-off in a future DC project.
"I have been saying for some time, there's a new era in the DC Universe that's about to begin," The Rock said.
"And what I meant by that was introducing a brand new character. It's not a sequel, not an existing IP. It was... you know, Black Adam. Two years ago the world had no idea who he was. We did, but not the rest of the masses out there. What I really meant by, 'This is a new era in the DC Universe,' is listening to the fans. And doing our best to give the fans what they want.
"I've been waiting for someone to step up and address the fans and say, 'Hey, we hear you,'" he continued. "So finally, after many months turned into many years, we ended up with what we ended up at. And the whole goal and intention now is to this new era, new time. Now let's build-out."
Superman returns
In a recent interview, Johnson suggested Superman has been "on the sidelines for too long".
