Aldis Hodge is keen to play John Stewart's version of the Green Lantern in the new DC movie Universe.
The actor is no stranger to comic book movies as in 2022 he played Hawkman alongside Dwayne Johnson in Black Adam. There were previous plans for Hodge to reprise that role in more projects for DC, but that was before the entire DC Extended Universe was concluded with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
James Gunn is working on a new universe and within that will be a new Lanterns television series, and Hodge wants to play Stewart after years actually voicing the character in DC's animated Tomorrowverse.
"I mean, look, I'm open for whatever. I would love to live out the rest of the legacy of Hawkman because we had some amazing plans for him," he told ComicBook.com.
"But also, with John Stewart in sort of a live action capacity. I mean, I've voiced John Stewart in the animated space for years now. Few years. Phil LaMarr passed the baton. Shout out to Phil because I'm a big fan of his work. But if that became a film adaptation, absolutely. I mean, that was one of my dreams growing up was to be John Stewart in live-action. So yeah."
Hal Jordan's version of The Green Lantern was infamously played by Ryan Reynolds in the movie of the same name in 2011.
It received such a poor reception that years later Reynolds would poke fun at the movie as part of his performance in the Deadpool films.
