James Bond fans have been waiting very patiently for an announcement regarding the next 007.
Even before Daniel Craig departed, there was speculation as to who would replace him as the most famous movie spy in movie history. Names like Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Damson Idris, Henry Cavill and Aaron-Taylor Johnson were favourites at different points both before and after the production of No Time to Die.
Craig led the franchise through its most successful period, as Skyfall remains the highest-grossing Bond film of all time.
According to The Sun, Taylor-Johnson has officially been offered the role of 007.
“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back," a source told the publication.
“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”
Last year, it was reported that Taylor-Johnson impressed Bond producers and that he had even donned the tuxedo to film his version of the iconic gun barrel sequence.
