Aaron Taylor-Johnson admits that he didn't give a 'f***' about making more franchise movies after Kick-Ass, Godzilla and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
People really started to take notice of Taylor-Johnson after his portrayal of John Lennon in Nowhere Boy. From there, he became a big star and would go on to feature in the aforementioned franchises.
The British actor apparently doesn't look back on those movies with a lot of fondness, and claims he turned down huge movies afterwards in order to be with his family.
"There was 'Kick-Ass' and then there was 'Godzilla' and 'Avengers', and all those things lined up for me," he told Esquire.
"But I didn't really care for them... (I was up for movies) that nobody knows about – big, huge franchises that were in play.
"(But) I wanted, purely, to be with my babies. I didn't want to be taken away from them. I battled with what that would be like. I would say I was probably not ready to be in that position anyway – it was too early. But yeah, I also slightly didn't give a f***."
Despite his reluctance to return to franchise movies, he will play Kraven the Hunter for Marvel and is also one of the front-runners to be named the next James Bond.
Taylor-Johnson returns to comic book movies
Taylor-Johnson played Quicksilver for Marvel and he will soon return for another massive comic book movie in Kraven the Hunter. The man himself says he thought he was done with superhero flicks.
"I mean, quite honestly, I thought I'd actually been done with these sorts of movies," he admitted.
"You can't step into this role, you can't step into what this franchise is, with a f****** half-a****, 'Let's see how it goes attitude'.
"You have to be mentally prepared for what could come with that. I think I'm secure in my life now to know that I'm happy to deal with that. I think I'm secure in my life now to know that I'm happy to deal with that. I don't think I was probably ready to invite that into my life earlier on."
