Zoals men in Any Way The Wind Blows al zei ... de Foute Jaren 80. Al mag de opkomst van anime natuurlijk wel gevierd worden.

Grootste afwezige waarschijnlijk Akira en Tetsuo, maar ook films als Bakuretsu Toshi, The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover, The Killer, Do the Right Thing, Denchu Kozo no Boken en Hellraiser hadden de lijst wat kunnen opfleuren. Toch een redelijk deuzige bedoening.

Opgeteld met films zoals Dom za Vešanje (1988), Garde à Vue (1981), Mephisto (1981) staat je nog een uitstekende filmmarathon te wachten.

De jaren '80 is zondermeer een interessant decennium, maar gaat voortdurend in duel met de jaren '50 en '70. Ik mis echer prenten als 'Blood Simple.', 'The Hunger', 'Manhunter', 'The Right Stuff' én 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being'. Prenten die enige competitie met de hoog genoteerden uit bovenstaande lijst gemakkelijk aankunnen...

The Elephant Man, The Killing Fields en Nuovo Cinema Paradiso liggen klaar. Het liefst wil in nog zien: Blue Velvet.

Misschien wel mijn minst favoriete decennium en sowieso het enige decennium sinds de jaren '20 waar ik nog geen 5 sterren aan heb mogen geven, terwijl andere decennia er meerdere films hebben die de hoogste eer van mij hebben mogen ontvangen. Deze lijst valt echter mee, maar dit zijn dan ook al bijna alle jarne '80-films die ik hoog beoordeel. Gelukkig zijn al die populaire b-films en high school-dingen grotendeels afwezig.

47 titels intikken (waaronder nota bene niet eens de nummer 1 uit die lijst!) wordt me wat te gortig. Dus ik beperk me even tot de meesterwerken:

Als kind gebiologeerd naar Bröderna Lejonhjärta, en Star Wars gekeken.

Voorts kan ik het moeilijk een 'slecht' jaar noemen, daarvoor heb ik te weinig van hetgeen in dat jaar werd geproduceerd kunnen aanschouwen.
