I almost managed to copy Jennifer's Bodie for several weeks... But the disc was damaged. Yes, you have to take risks when you pick up a DVD at thrift land. Saw this movie yesterday by the same director... Also the same director of Girlfight and Aeon Flux.

The Invitation was a nice little horror movie. A smaller budget than the aforementioned films... A bit bubbling and loose... but in the end a good success. A horror film about cults... that can always turn out well. After the loss of their son, Will and Eden accept an invitation. It takes place in a villa... it's a dinner... and the society consists of, at first sight, very friendly people... Yes, and then you have to be careful. The film continues subtly... There seems to be little going on... And via a video tape the society is introduced in a sympathetic way... Even the confession of the founder doesn't come that hard anymore.

But as you know, something isn't right and Will and Eden are entangled in a web. The film turns out to be a kind of survival horror within the walls of the villa... It all seems to be pretty standard. But the ending, and especially the last shot, makes up for it.

The atmosphere is also pleasantly gloomy and knows how to feel with the film.

And then Get Out and Mother! still from this year...

It certainly appealed to me.

4.0*

What a worthless movie. A bad play that I watched for 90 minutes. Not exciting at all. Too bad Huisman you can do much better!

If I had turned off the Invitation fifteen minutes before the end, nothing would have happened. Until then, pretty strong story, with appealing actors. What possessed the makers of this film to kill a potentially strong film? Really didn't make sense to this, with all that violence and those red lanterns in the last scene. Karyn Kusama is allowed to make commercials for Mora for a year as a punishment.
