The story follows the three immortal vampires Viago (Taika Waititi), Deacon (Jonathan Brugh) and Vladislav (Jemaine Clement) as they try to adapt to modern society. By overcoming everyday obstacles, including paying rent and getting into nightclubs, they try to make sense of the ever-changing world around them.

Nice.
Clement and Waititi already showed that they had talent in Eagle vs Shark, with this film they confirm. Perhaps a little less strong overall, but there are still enough moments of genius for a nice evening of comedy.
The approach itself is not very original. Mockumentary that makes fun of the vampire thing. Kind of like Pixar's The Incredibles, mythical monsters in a perfectly normal setting, with the difference that I could appreciate the humor here.
The film is very fragmentary and the humor on the dry side. That made it start to drag around half way through. Once the concept was established and the film started to recycle mainly humor in slightly different situations, it became a bit less. AL that also has a bit to do with the fact that the level in the first half hour was quite high.
Fortunately it doesn't take too long, Clement and Waititi have a lot of comedic talent, both in front of and behind the camera and although the speed does wear off a bit after a while, it never gets boring or boring.

Clement and Waititi milk out most of the vampire jokes in the first half hour and make the mistake of aiming too much for comedy in this mockumentary that looks at the lives of five cohabiting vampires. Vladislaw [Jermaine Clement] is the nestor of the couple at 862 years old and has a penchant for torture; Viago [Taika Waititi] is a Pete Exactly, Deacon [Johnny Brug] is the rebellious 'young', Petyr [Ben Fransham] is the most taciturn of the bunch and Nick [Cori Gonzalez-Macuer] is only 2 months vampire and still has to learn a lot. The best moments of the supporting cast, starring Karen O'Leary, who takes her role as a bold cop seriously. Was the basis for the TV series of the same name launched in 2019 with a different cast.
