Creepy Cyclops.

Because Dekker portrays an accomplished sociopath here.

And despite the fact that everything has been slightly damaged by the ravages of time, this is a pleasant seat. The SFX, despite their dated appearance, are still OK.

The story is simple but works effectively. Exciting and entertaining. A must for enthusiasts.

Very good.

This film fails to captivate in terms of story, performance and cast. However, the concept is interesting, and with better implementation you can achieve a lot different things. The characters except Dr. Cyclops themselves are not interesting at all and some scenes seem a bit ridiculous. I think especially of the scene with the crocodile. Tension is missing. Disappointment! 5/10

About a crazy and evil scientist who experiments with a machine that turns people and animals into miniatures somewhere in the jungle. Dr. Cyclops is a film that relies on its effects. And those effects look pretty good when viewed through contemporary glasses. The rest of the film doesn't amount to much. The story is not very creative and the characters are not very appealing. It is mainly due to the effects and the nice way in which the effects are placed in the frame that the film still has some entertainment value.
Not entirely true, by the way. Another contribution to the entertainment is provided by numerous unintentionally comic scenes. Hilarious actions and clumsy activities increase the viewing pleasure immensely. Perhaps the nicest is the way Dr. Cyclops repairs his complex reduction machine. He does this by tightening a gigantic screw with a whoop of a wrench. This hilarious action that is frequently passed over also has the side effect that it turns the man into a sympathetic comedian rather than a devilish villain. .
The heroes who have to stop him from his evil plans are just as idiotic. Equipped with qualities such as pride, overconfidence and fanatical beliefs, the heroes believe they have the moral right on their side and can afford anything. Annoying people. No characters to identify with. The perfect material to undergo treatment with the reduction machine.
Oh well. it's not all that special. Go into the film without much expectation and you will certainly be entertained by the special effects and hilarious scenes. There is much more positive to say about this precursor to films such as Fantastic Voyage (1966) and The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) I can't say.
