The setup where the story is told from the perspective of three different characters is interesting to follow.

Viewed over the entire length, the story does not always remain equally captivating, but the wonderful Italian atmosphere and the excellent acting of Valeria Bruni Tedeschi manage to hold the attention. Lovely voice by the way of this lady. 6/10

I recently got to know Paolo Virzi through the solid La Pazza Gioia (2016) and of course through the endearing heartwarming The Leisure Seeker (2017). With this Il capitale umano Virzi also delivers a very beautiful qualitative film. A film that was unknown to me, but one that I really appreciated.

The film links a number of storylines together and looks at (repeats) them from different characters. Not an original story technique, but always fascinating to follow. Some scenes return from a different perspective, but it never really becomes repetitive because new nuances are constantly revealed. Dino is a somewhat simple, gullible small broker who, through his daughter's relationship with her boyfriend, comes into contact with his aristocratic father Giovanni. Dino's naivety is abused and he invests a large sum of money in some fund or other. Another storyline is about a traffic accident that casts a dark shadow over both families.

The nice thing about the film is that Virzi pays a lot of attention to the development of the different characters. Giovanni is someone who will do anything and prefers to keep his affairs as far away from his wife Carla as possible. Carla, on the other hand, is trapped in her golden cage and longs for her own career and life. Furthermore, there is attention for the beautiful Italian atmosphere and the grandeur that you also encounter in La grande bellezza or La pazza gioia.

Because Virzi never loses himself in the story and the acting performances are top, I really enjoyed this film. A small recommendation. Beautiful!

Quite a complicated story to summarize in a few sentences. So I won't do that. But I did find it an intriguing film with a similar story that builds up nicely from various points of view. I also found the completely different people and various environments within the film pleasant to experience in this story. It was quite cleverly put together without me really being able to discover holes in the script. A mistake that is easily made when you make the film so complicated. The only thing I couldn't immediately understand was the very last written story. A certain Fabrizio received more than 200,000 euros, the "human capital", from the insurance. But I couldn't remember Fabrizio at all. Only when I went to read here at moviemeter to see who was in the cast of the film, I saw that it was the cyclist who had been run over. So it's not surprising that I didn't remember the name. That name may have been mentioned at the beginning of the film, but apart from that the man didn't really have a prominent role in the film of course. At least when it comes to screen and acting time. He was of course very important to the story.
