Had little expectations, but it turned out okay in the end. The Marked Ones has a light-hearted tone in the first part, which ensures that the protagonists come across as sympathetic and the film also looks anything but long-winded. Something that can still be a problem in the handycam genre is the construction. The tension is built up steadily and the subcutaneous tension is continuously present. There are a number of scares in it that are effective and don't look cheap in my opinion. It is a pity that the threesome do look up the problems themselves (the black mirror, breaking into the house of the dead neighbor below), surely something else can be found for this?

The climax on the farm is also exciting (same farm as part 3?) and unlike a lot of others here I find the reference to part 1 a bit bland, cheap and also very unnecessary. There were no oohs and ahs through the living room at that moment.

If the ending hadn't tried to link so cheaply with part 1 and put more emphasis on part 3, it would have been half a bit more. Fortunately, it doesn't look like a simple cash in film.

3.0*

Unfortunately I couldn't do anything with this. Cinematically all quality is really lacking, without exaggeration, even as a B-movie I think it's bad. Bad acting, no soundtrack, not scary, not funny, terribly stereotypical Mexicans, no cinematography, no argument whatsoever why one of those guys always has to film everything with a handycam, and for the most part there is no script. A film that doesn't take the viewer seriously at all.

So far I've seen all the movies in the series, and this one is by far the worst. It is incomprehensible to me that this film can score so high (2.6 * average), there is nothing that the film does well. diablostef described it well: "this is so bad there are no words for it". Obviously not my thing. I can only award the lowest score: 0.5*
