Meh.

Could have been fun. Columbia is a different setting, the actors weren't that bad and although the story really doesn't have much substance, it could be fun when everyone gets stuck in an abandoned inn.

Visually it could have been a bit better. CG storm is not that great, but also in the house everything is only faintly shown. In terms of horror it is all quite okay, maybe also because the idea is not new anymore and because this film can not add much to it.

Garcia is not a great director and he proves it once again with this film. There clearly could have been more in it, but he misses a few open opportunities and comes up with an average horror film that is not that bad, but also fails to convince anywhere.

2.0*

Gallows Hill a film with the right setting and really nicely shot but the story was downright boring. That's what makes or breaks it. Missed opportunity this.

Widower David [Peter Facinelli] is on his way to the airport in Bogota with his fiancée [Sophia Myles], his former sister-in-law [Caroline Guerra], his daughter [Nathalia Ramos] and her boyfriend [Sebastián Martinez] when their car ends up in the water in extreme weather conditions. The five of them find shelter with an old man [Gustavo Angarita] who has locked a girl [Julieta Salazar] in the basement. Is the man a kidnapper or is the girl a danger to the outside world? The plot is light, but the idea that 'evil' cannot die and simply moves into the body of the person closest to it makes for an original premise and with the help of Olga Turrini Bernardoni's make-up team, Garcia manages to generate a number of effective scares.
