Very good war/drama.

Colin Farrell does a great job of portraying his rebellious character ''Bozz'', and the other actors were excellent too.

The film shows the madness in a military training camp just before they leave for Vietnam.
They have to pick up quite a bit there. 1 hour of sleep, a sergeant treating you like a piece of shit etc.
At times very exciting and at times a bit more dramatic (which also worked well).

Bozz also provides some funny scenes. That moment when he suddenly hangs on that side of that moving truck is amazing.

The ending was also fine.
Very good movie this.

Solid.

Don't like these kind of war films, so the film already has that against it. Fortunately, there is the Bozz character to counterbalance everything. It's nice how he manages to cut himself off in half, a rarity, where these kinds of films normally let the hierarchy weigh heavily.

Visually also quite striking, very grainy and short or the ball, Schumacher happy with his DV camera I assume. It does work for a movie like this, although I found it to be a bit too grainy at times. Music hasn't caught my eye, acting is nice but Farrell's American accents aren't entirely convincing.

Nice in itself, although it all passed me a bit. I will never have anything to do with the army, fortunately I have never been a resident there and I don't really care how it all works. Despite quite a few clichés, Schumacher manages to give it his own twist, which ensures that the 100 minutes are fairly easy to sit out.

2.5*

smoothly.

Farrell's character in particular is indeed a strong element of the film, without him it would have all come out a lot weaker. Tigerland was one of those films of which I once got hold of the DVD because the original owner no longer needed it.

I am always up for a decent war film. Although it is mainly war training here. But I couldn't take that whole workout very seriously. Partly because of Farrell's character, but in general it feels quite like just a game of paintball with each other.

However, it looks nice and the story and the movie itself are quite fast. Buoys does it for the full 100 minutes anyway and it never really poops in anything. Partly because the drama is not too heavy and the war is not too present, so that the pace always remains the same. But it does matter.

Acting is decent. Farrell is especially good. His pranks may be a bit annoying at times, but that seems to be the intention I think. The somewhat shorter role of Whigham, which I found very convincing in Splinter, also plays quite well.

It's mostly entertainment. It is not very realistic and there is never pressure from the war that is getting closer and closer. I still miss that a bit in Tigerland. But for the rest it's all pretty nice for once. It also doesn't take too long, and is quite entertaining. Also think that was Schumacher's goal.
