A beautiful movie. In my opinion, an interesting story that is well developed. Beautiful images, a very strong acting Mia Wasikowska (can't fault the other actors either) and great camera work. It is a quiet film with a dreamy atmosphere and an ode to the beauty of nature. Not a favourite, it didn't hit me enough for that, but it did hit me enough. 3.5*

Young woman, girl, makes a long journey, alone, but with a dog and four dromedaries. Very briefly, a corner of the veil is lifted about the why. Is she tired of people? Is she looking for a confrontation with herself? Is she burdened by an unresolved past?
I was never even slightly on the edge of my seat. It ripples on, like a long long lonely journey. Here and there a fragment of a dream or a memory with the charge of a traumatic childhood experience. All in all I was very hungry. It's too little. How long will it be until the end?
Okay, based on truth, but that was also why I started this show. Unfortunately I can't help but compare this film with Into The Wild and Wild, which tower miles above this nobody.

Oh yeah, that music was terrible too. Didn't fit at all with the atmosphere of the images. Extremely disturbing.

Still a bit disappointing (maybe I had too high expectations).... What didn't help is that the main character is downright unkind and that she generally doesn't seem to be able to really enjoy her trip. This makes it difficult to empathize with the main character. Annoying: she just doesn't seem to understand that she has made a deal with National Geographic and that there are consequences that she has said 'yes' to that will allow her to make this trip at all. It has been suggested that her motivation stems from her childhood traumas. I dare to doubt that. A traveler travels because he is a traveller. An adventurer seeks adventure because he is an adventurer. Like a singer sings because he is a singer.

I thought the Mai W. acted okay, but still a bit too light to carry a film in which so little is spoken. I think the book 'Tracks' comes out better because you can be more part of her thoughts there. Now Robyn remains somewhat of a closed book and she remains somewhat at a distance.

Not much happens in the movie. It is a 'slow' film, but that in itself is not an issue for me. Unfortunately for me this is not fully compensated with the images of beautiful landscapes (which are usually also a bit boring) and original camera work.

If you were touched by this film, I recommend that you read the book 'Full time adventurer' by Tamara Valkenier. Wonderful book, beautifully written. She describes three adventures including a trek with 2 camels, 2 horses and 2 dogs through Mongolia.
