"The great MGM musical romance"
Manuela is hopelessly in love with the novel hero Macoco, a buccaneer whose adventurous stories she reads over and over and dreams of one day marrying him. One day, Manuela meets Macoco, and he's even more handsome than she ever imagined. What she doesn't know is that this Macoco is an impostor, a simple carnival magician, and that the real Macoco is actually an old man who made it to the city's mayor. The fake Macoco will therefore not simply be outdone by the real pirate.
