I bought this on Blu-ray thinking it was the first Outpost. I once saw the first two parts and I quite liked them, I didn't know there was a third part. And I have to say, despite the very short playing time, I also like this part! Nice setting in the Second World War with Russian soldiers who were apparently very tough. I found Bryan Larkin as Dolokhov very charismatic in his role as a badass. I also really liked Michael McKell as Colonel Strasser. I love Nazi zombie films and the Outpost films deserve a place in my Blu-ray collection.

By far the worst of all 3 films.

It already starts with the title. The Spetsnaz have nothing to do with this. Historically, the Spetsnaz was not founded until 1949.

Then the storyline. Part 1 takes place in the present, part 2 builds on this beautifully, and ends with a beautiful ending that is perfect for part 3. And then part 3 jumps back 70 or so, with only the last minute being a reference to the previous parts.

Then the film itself. Well, the previous versions still followed a storyline, in which the film gradually became more clear. This was basically just a one-man show killing off hordes of Nazis. Hordes that were so stupid all the time to all walk next to each other in the hallway, didn't shoot back, or missed, and were slaughtered.

I know, you shouldn't watch these kinds of films for views of the truth, but compared to the previous parts, this is radically bad. I give it 1.5 stars for the effort.

You want monsters? I'll show you fucking monsters.

Late Saturday evening I had a bit of a semi-horror and it turned out well that, just like last year, I had a part of the Outpost series in the month of May. So I sat down with a good glass of whiskey in hand. And oh well, let me start right away with the points of criticism, because this part again cannot be found in any depth. In addition, they have not been able to get a single name actor within this cast, but I think the most striking thing is the title of the film, which seems to me to underline the fact that they want to make something sound nice but do not know the ins and outs. Because Spetsnaz in the title sounds nice, of course referring to the well-known Russian commandos, the only point is that the creation of the Spetsnaz would have to wait until '49. If this is a commando, it would fall under the GRU, which has existed since the First World War. But fine, that is a detail that many will dismiss as nonsense.

Nevertheless, in the end I don't think the film is bad at all and, despite the lower grade average than the first Outpost, I certainly don't think it is worse. I think the Wolfenstein-like scenes, experiments and zombies are more appealing than those blurry ghost soldiers from the first one. Then the location is quite good and I think the action is quite nice and even on the cool side. Larkin is quite okay as the man putter and McKell quite good as the bad boy. Also quite funny is MMA fighter James Thompson, who once again loses out as Berserker against a Russian, but this time stays on his feet longer than in the hilarious match against Fyodor Yemeljanenko. And so Outpost Rise of the Spetsnaz is quite a fun evening with the necessary spooky business and Gore. Final verdict: quite okay for once, but just not enough.
