Ouch.

The combination of Burt Reynolds and Liza Minelli is seriously getting on my nerves. And the fact that the film veers between musical, farce, and gangster film doesn't help matters either. And what's Gene Hackman doing in such a crappy film? Well, he reportedly got paid so outrageously much for it that he couldn't say no. Well, he also knows that you only truly appreciate a good film if you occasionally participate in a bad one.

Higgins gets a nice role, sorry John Hillerman. And Janit Baldwin too, that other girl from Prime Cut. But even that's not really worth sitting through almost two hours of Liza Minelli. What also doesn't help is that the images are incredibly ugly—often very washed-out and lacking contrast. Whether that's intentional or just my copy, I'm not entirely sure. And perhaps worst of all, even worse than Minelli, is how the soundtrack occasionally tries to create "atmosphere" while nothing funny happens. Meh.
