The film starts brilliantly: atmospheric images of a bleak San Francisco and an assault set up in fantastic extreme close ups. "Mysterious" may sound inappropriate, but it's the word that comes to mind.

Then... a sudden headbutt rips us out of that admiration and the arrest that follows feels completely out of place. And that feeling lingers for the entire hour and a half that follows. Like the idea that my intellect is being completely ridiculed.

After half an hour I had reduced my suspects to two, fifteen minutes later to one. And after having to drag myself through another 45 minutes of boring clichés, stereotypes and cringe-inducing acting by Ashley Judd, I turned out to have it right too. sigh.

When I see Ashley Judd in a movie, I'm always tempted to watch it. For one reason or another, a movie is usually always good in which it participates. Not that I'm a huge fan or anything, but that happens with some actors. Andy Garcia is already such a person. And now they are in one movie together.

Anyway ... so this is the first time that a movie with this actress and this actor in it has disappointed me quite a bit. I found the story rather boring and the character that Judd has to play also quite meaningless and unsympathetic.

The story is at times quite improbable. An example of this is when Garcia's character gets poisoned with GHB. How does he manage to escape from the house and get to the other side via the water. I can't quite imagine that.

I knew from the start how this movie was going to end. And I don't often. I'm not that bright in that regard. That shows how transparent the plot was. Such a shame for a film with actors of this caliber.

Ashley Judd does play a nice role in this movie. But otherwise this movie is a bit boring. It soon turns to the question: which of the characters is that serial killer after all? A simple countdown, it will be one of the least obvious characters, so I quickly came up with - either the psychiatrist, or else the detective played by samuel L jackson. And yes, indeed..
The film does have a nice closing sentence.
