Un Singe en Hiver plot
During the 1944 invasion, Norman hotel owner Quentin swore not to drink another drop if his hotel was spared the bombings. Years later, he still kept his promise and the only escape from his sluggish existence are the memories of his service in the Far East. One winter evening, the young guest Fouquet unexpectedly arrives at the hotel, who searches in vain for alcohol and moves to the neighborhood pub, where he drinks himself drunk to forget his unhappy marriage and his guilt towards his daughter. The old hotel owner recognizes in his guest the vitality and dreams that he had long thought suppressed and extinguished in himself. Despite Mrs. Quentin's warnings, the inevitable happens: Quentin gets drunk with Fouquet. But with the hangover, reality also makes its unrelenting demands.
