The Mine plot

"It's Alive"

Brad and his friends decide to spend one last Halloween together before graduating. They decide to spend a spooky evening at the Jarvis mines. Legend has it that the Jarvis mines were closed decades ago and ghosts of a family killed in the mine were around. Of course ghosts don't exist, right?

Poor...

The setting of the abandoned gold mine makes up for a lot of the tension in this otherwise average work.

In terms of scares, I was really disappointed and fans of a good portion of gore will not get their money's worth with this film. That could have been much better.

The acting is passable, except for a few minor slip-ups here and there.

Oh, for those who need an easy watch in the genre...

Very, very small 2.5*

An abandoned mine: always a suitable location for an exciting film. Well, almost always, because this 'Abandoned Mine' proves the opposite. And the reason for this is mainly the lame scenario. After a strange beginning follows a long middle section that ends and a messy climax. Because of this, the film is a bit like the mine itself: empty. No, cinematographic gold was not found here.

A horror that traditionally starts with a group of young people who, despite the stories, decide to descend into a cursed mine, because ghosts do not exist. A bit of a standard story, but with the necessary potential.

The problem is that you are left hungry, because indeed very little happens. What was captured well was the claustrophobic atmosphere, on the one hand via the head cams and on the other hand the regular image. The hardly any corridors and cracks, the darkness... it is not very comfortable. I am far from claustrophobic, but I would find something like that scary, especially if you do not know where you will end up (or get stranded) when you crawl into a narrow passage...

Instead of calling a spade a spade, the whole thing remains very vague. Mystery in the beginning OK, but do something with it in the end. This way the film gets stuck in the loose shots and there is more disappointment than tension.
