A great popcorn movie that serves as chewing gum for the eyes. Just a fun fun looker. Because the reviews are unnecessarily sour, I give it 5 stars.

A very simplistic film that, despite the simple story, still feels a bit incoherent and messy. The script also has very few checkpoints. You would almost think that everything was made up from scratch along the way during the filming process. RIPD has not turned out to be the best film either. In addition, the CGI is also mediocre (although that might not be too bad for that time) and I found Jeff Bridges, who I have high, made his character too thick.

But even then, I don't really regret setting up this rather wacky action movie. As a one-off pulp shot, it was quite manageable.

Just picked it up on TV because the trailer still seemed nice when it came along. But it soon became apparent that you have seen the most of this Men in Black meets Ghostbusters rip off with the trailer.

And actually I should know better too, especially when it comes to the name Reynolds. A name that for me guarantees extremely bland and meaningless films, with the exception of Buried or Safe House, which aren't great either, but at least decent. In any case, also roles where Reynolds is serious. A big exception is Deadpool, who despite the typical Reynolds humor is extremely doable in terms of mix, but with part 2 also scores less because it becomes too much the Ryan Reynolds show again. There is no question of a Reynolds show in RIPD, but it certainly does not work at all.

Where to start. The duo doesn't exactly work, the humor is bland and nowhere fun, the action and CGI way over the top or fuck ugly, Bridges seems to be able to do little else since True Grit in 2010 that Rooster Cogburn-esque roles, something that at some point also the fun is over, the script or story is thinner than paper and one of the few nice things about RIPD is Bacon who isn't even super exaggerated. The only other reason to watch out is at least the three ladies in the form of Marisa Miller, ML Parker and Stephanie Szostak. Other than that, this is a case of very quickly forgotten.
