Enjoyed the concept of V/H/S again, now with part 2. After I got quite excited in part 1 about the way they incorporated several short films into the story, V/H/S 2 follows the same line . It works fine, because in this way completely separate segments can still be rejoined. It's all dark and creepy and the atmosphere is well laid out. What it often lacks are good actors. The acting is really abominably bad at times. If V/H/S 2 would also have a good cast in addition to the excellent gore and shock effects, it would have been a 4* or even higher in my opinion.

Personally, I thought Safe Haven by Gareth Evans and Timo Tjahjanto was by far the best film. The whole atmosphere and setting is very creepy. Despite the fact that the creature at the end detracts a lot , it doesn't take away that this movie is by far the scariest in my opinion.

3.5*
7/10 (IMDB)

Where I was extremely surprised with V/H/S 1 and found it original, this one is weak and chewed up. Unfortunately. I found the last part quite entertaining.

A clearer frame story and more consistency in the content quality make this second part of this horror trilogy, consisting of short horror stories captured on a VHS tape with a camcorder, better than the original. As in part 1, the last segment is the weakest, mainly because of the unconvincing 'aliens'. The other segments are excellent though, but the mostly Indonesian spoken 'Safe Haven' is the jewel in the crown of this must for horror lovers. Found footage horror at its finest.
