Rommel plot
'Rommel' tells the story of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel's fruitless efforts to obtain reinforcements from Hitler for the Western Front and the gradual understanding of the dire situation after the military defeat in Normandy. He is cautiously informed by his chief of staff Speidel of the plans to overthrow Hitler, with Rommel acting expectant but not betraying the conspirators. Faced with Hitler's relentless adherence to the belief in ultimate victory and increasingly absurd military orders, to avoid further bloodshed, Rommel is determined to open a new front at his peril.
