Danny Kaye does not disappoint: "The Inspector General", "The Court Jester", "Hans Christian Anderson"... and also this "Secret Life..." is a crazy comedy with, in addition to the adventure, also witty dialogues and sayings.

Let us forget the slapstick situations to enjoy more the reveries of our Walter, which contain imitations but above all parodies of tough, clichéd situations from films.

Well-spent innocent relaxation.

Rightly a classic film; Danny Kaye is at his best for me; the unsought heroism is also beautiful to see; many memorable moments. I can't imagine there will be a better remake of this.

Ken Englund and Everett Freeman adapted the short story into an easy-to-digest, but not very high-quality comic vehicle for Danny Kaye, who is ideal in the leading role but is not very challenged in terms of acting. Walter Mitty [Danny Kaye] works for a pulp fiction publisher. His good ideas have been adopted by his boss [Thurston Hall], who himself takes the credit. However, Walter is not the person to make a problem of this. The books he reads feed his fantasies, in which he is always a romantic hero who helps the attractive Rosalind [Virginia Mayo] out. Boris Karloff plays one of his many villain roles and Kaye entertains the viewer with his slapstick and pelvic twitching. The highlight is 'Symphony For Unstrung Tongue', a wonderful tour-de-force that is tailor-made for Kaye. Remade into a film by Ben Stiller in 2013.
