"In the tradition of the great Knute Rockne"
Bucky O'Brien, who was a great rugby star at his Hookerville school, is accepted into Notre Dame University. Bucky's enthusiasm for the sport prompts his roommate Jim Stewart to interest Bucky in the college team. After initial resistance, Bucky works hard and becomes a real asset to the team. In their first year, both Bucky and Jim are left halfbacks. Although Bucky is a better player, the coach puts him in the less attractive position as right halfback because he is a better stopper than Jim. Jim has a hard time with that though…
