Director Darren Lynn Bousman's latest horror film benefits from excellent acting and a number of intense editing techniques, as well as a cleverly conceived ending. It is unfortunate that Twisted maintains a rather serious tone throughout, causing a significant portion of the far-fetched plot to fall flat. Only towards the end do the first (ridiculous) ideas start to work, but by then the entire film is over. Fortunately, both Djimon Hounsou and Lauren LaVera deliver very creditable performances and Bousman manages to bring a certain level of quality to the controls, but the first half is uninteresting and feels like it drags on for far too long. Fans of hardcore medical horror, however, will be more than satisfied.

A bit of an unbalanced film; it starts off quite nicely with the necessary intrigue and suspense, but towards the end it becomes a bit of a mess. Mediocre.
