Before the Nickelodeon: The Cinema of Edwin S. Porter plot
This documentary was produced by one of the world's foremost authorities and biographers of Edwin S. Porter. Because little is known of Porter's personal life, the emphasis here is on technique and his contribution to cinema. This film also serves as a document on the origins of American cinema. Porter's work is shown in the context of the entire American cinema of his time, from Mutoscope salons to the advent of the projected film image.
