"Panic feeds on fear."
The picturesque seaside town of Chesapeake Bay thrives on the water. It is the lifeblood of the community. When two biological researchers from France find a very high level of toxicity in the water, they try to warn the mayor, but he refuses to cause panic in the town. As a result, a deadly plague breaks out that makes the people of Chesapeake Bay hosts to parasites that take control of their minds, and ultimately their bodies.

This one was on TV and it was picked up anyway. I didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't really exciting. The film wants to appear realistic, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I found it more tedious than exciting. There was also no exciting climax.
It's good that I once caught it on TV, but don't have to see it again.

Don't drink the water.
Nice found footage horror movie. Especially the diversity of ways in which the incident was recorded is a relief. Normally we are attached to a number of people with a camera, but in The Bay we use face time, dash cams, security cameras and blogs. It's a shame that Donna talks through the entire film and the film seems a bit confused due to the many locations and people that are followed. If they had added some more structure and tranquility to it, it would have been a lot more compelling than it is now. This does not alter the fact that The Bay is an entertaining film within this subgenre and in terms of horror there is also something to enjoy every now and then.

Wonderful interpretation of the form to plausibly and frighteningly translate a seriously out of control epidemic to the screen.
And that again through a multitude of screens, of course. Images that could be supplied on a website are effectively stitched together to paint an overall picture of the spread of a flesh-eating bacterium.
Less investment in characters but consciously chosen a town as 'main character'; to me, the exponentially growing scale created more horror than the individual stories could have done. Somewhere in the center of the tangle is the CDC, some epidemiological center. Initially, the response is laconic; a few phone calls later, they are despondently asked to connect with The White House. It spreads quickly.
On top of that, a flesh-eating bacteria (or yes: larvae, growing into arthropod organisms) ('carnivorous' is the word to focus on here?) is extremely gruesome, as is the image of humans and corpses eaten by it. Perfectly shot, with well-executed gore and ingenious suggestion.
The latter is often due to the (found-footage) form. Plays a lot with noise and (blur) sharpness, the incompleteness of the image or at times only consists of sound. Works well suggestive. The film does not always take it too closely, but opts for effect. An inexplicable camera angle here and there to preserve the atmosphere. In fact, every time, up to and including the end, perfect choices. Don't forget the soundtrack either; it illustrates perfectly what the film wants to do.
Immersed in a topical subject, this eco-horror is very credible and effectively developed and, moreover, completely devoid of (direct) pedantic morality. A clever tightrope walk with breathtaking results. Thick 4*
