This time, however, an additional danger arises: there could be a spy among the code-breakers, and it could be someone close to Tom.

A fascinating and exciting story that takes place in the setting of Bletchley Park. But it has very little to do with history, and the protagonist Tom Jericho has very few similarities with Alan Turing. As long as you keep that in mind and accept it, it's a fun movie with a lot of pretty accurate information in it about the way the Enigma code breaks. Otherwise, it's an infuriating mockery that mocks history, and frankly insults Turing and the brilliant Polish researchers who laid the groundwork for the work.

Other than that, the story is exciting, so, and well-timed. Scott and Winslet play well, Burrows less so - but her role also demands a cardboard flat secret. Nicely filmed too, and nice to see the bombes at work in full operation.

Revised because of my admiration for The imitation game, but this is a very different movie. Nice how the script (or the original novel, I haven't read it) combines the central fact of developing the Enigma machine and breaking the German code with the Katyn massacre and in which different ways it resonates with the English , the Russians and the Nazis. I only know Dougray Scott as sacherijn in Mission impossible 2, but he is extremely suitable for this suspicious role, and Kate Winslet is reliable as always, but the most admiration goes out to Jeremy Northam who charm, as is often done in an extremely effective way for a role of which, even afterwards, I still do not know to what extent he is now on the right side of the law (and of my sympathy). The real star of this film is the Enigma project, and its organization and elaboration are fairly exposed, but the total package that the script, direction and interpretations provide is also very intriguing.

Nice story by Harris that can easily be compared with other espionage stories such as those of Ken Follett or Daniel Silva.

Needless to say, Jericho will be based somewhat on Alan Turing, the Katyn massacre is a nice detail to have incorporated into this story and a nice 'Enigma' is spun around Claire in that sense and especially next to the actual problems with the Enigma.

Nice at best, nice to see it again and that's about it.
