National Geographic photographer James Balog is on a mission; he wants to visualize the shrinking ice caps. Together with a few adventurers, he explores the limits of technological (and human) possibilities. He depicts the deep-frozen world in a fairytale-like way; Using time-lapse technology, years are rendered in seconds, we see ancient ice landscapes changing before our eyes. Chasing Ice portrays climate change in a stunning way and at the same time tells the story of a man with unstoppable passion and drive.
