An interesting film that could have been better explained at times. The story lines go together pretty quickly, leaving a feeling that something is missing. I do think the acting is very strong and the actual star of this film is Naomie Harris with her excellent portrayal of Winnie Mandela.

Her lively interpretation actually makes the pieces with Idris seem a little less impressive. In my opinion, this may also have to do with the fact that I thought the film could have been a bit more intense, especially the parts with Idris Elba. Show the true pain that Mandela felt and then this film gets a lot more depth.

Nevertheless, it was a beautiful film to watch with beautiful music.

What a terrible and unfair thing this man has done. Fortunately, he was able to live outside the fences / walls for a few more years, even as president. RIP Mandela.

This biopic is beautifully made and well acted. Must be an honor to play him.

Pushing such an eventful life into a two-hour and half-length film is certainly not easy and in fact this is sometimes felt because it sometimes comes across as if things are skipped or insufficiently exposed while other passages are placed in relief.

Nevertheless a decent and recommended work that of course touches on a sensitive event but as a film in fact does not engage enough, which is surprising and perhaps due to the lack of length to convey everything even better. The acting certainly does not disappoint.
