"You will never forget"
In the early 1800s, Texas was still in the hands of Mexican dictator General Santa Anna. After the Texans captured the city of San Antonio, the general counterattacked in early 1836 to crush resistance for an independent Texas once and for all. A volunteer army of some 200 men is holed up in the fortress of The Alamo - an abandoned mission. Among them are the famous David Crockett (Billy Bob Thornton), Colonel William Travis and James Bowie. For two weeks, the men defend The Alamo against a superior force of 2,000 Mexican soldiers and make history in their fight for Texas independence.

Mediocre western, messy and unbalanced. The cast is fine, but most characters are developed rather one-dimensionally and the actors have to make do with rather clichéd dialogues. Sporadically things come to life and visually everything looks neat, especially in the action scenes, but nowhere does the film want to be really exciting or even fascinating.

Not as good as the original directed by John Wayne now with Billy Bob Thornton as Davy
Crockett. Visually it certainly didn't look bad, but I was especially less impressed
