An incredibly good movie!

I somewhat understand the reactions, although I was briefly shocked by the negativity... The film can be interpreted as a simple movie about screaming chicks and shooting blacks, but then, as Jordy says, you indeed miss the point. Of course, I am not from the USA and my situation is different, but I do have some right to say that I found the film lifelike because I could relate to it incredibly well. I felt the emotions as if I were experiencing them myself (again).

I might not like the film if I hadn't experienced something similar, but for now, I can only say that I found the film intense and good.

An excellent film about a young man who still lives with his mother but is already the father of two children. One of John Singleton's better films that examines the contemporary life of the young Black man. This time, the film focuses not on violence, but on relationships. The characters are all well-developed, thanks in part to the good acting.

Director John Singleton is absolutely the right man for this kind of setting, but with Baby Boy, he stumbles over a hopelessly unsympathetic, childish protagonist who is given a mere 130 minutes to convince the viewer that he isn't a terrible person. Consequently, all those minutes simply fail to truly stick, aside from a few odd shots and decent acting. For an endlessly long time, as a viewer, you witness boundlessly stupid characters getting themselves into deeper and deeper trouble and barely bothering to climb out of it. Moreover, all that fuss distracts from the attention that could have gone to various social critiques. As it stands, it is primarily a half-baked mess with a fascinating background and not much else.
