Nemuri Kyôshirô: Mashôken plot

One rainy day, Nemuri is approached by a woman who demands that he buy her for the night. Nemuri goes to her house only to discover that she is wearing a Noh mask. He forces the woman to take off the mask, but the woman only wants to do this if he listens to her story. Nemuri decides to listen, but when he is not moved by her story afterwards, he leaves her and goes his own way again. The woman commits suicide not long after and names Nemuri as her legal heir in her will. She leaves behind a 5-year-old son, and Nemuri, stricken with guilt, vows to do everything he can to raise the little boy. That seems harder said than done...
