A slightly underrated film. Admittedly, the subject matter is rather one-sided, but it's very well-crafted and realistic. The film centers on a seemingly unassailable German Tiger tank that helps a large number of Russian T34 tanks reach the heights of tank glory. Ultimately, the Russian military leadership becomes obsessed with destroying this tank. A specially prepared T34 is tasked with the task.

After the success of this assignment, the film could have been stopped. The political/symbolic ending seems far-fetched.

Russian cinema has been at a high level for the past 20 years... I'm afraid that's over for a while now. White Tiger is a lesser example... A nonsensical film that starts off reasonably well and holds up well until a grandiose action scene with several tanks. Ultimately, the fantasy elements fail, and who knows what that ending is about with Hitler. Very mediocre.

A well-made, at times thrilling Russian war film about the Red Army's battle against a mysterious, superior German tank. The action scenes are beautifully shot, and the ominous atmosphere is cleverly captured. Unfortunately, everything grinds to a halt in the film's strange finale, when we suddenly switch to a completely different setting, with characters who begin to philosophize pompously. That could have been better.
