Entertaining film that is particularly strong in the beginning. The first few murders are grim and original. Later in the film, it becomes a bit weaker and the developments are predictable. Nice supporting role for Arthur Lowe (Dad's Army), among others. All in all, still worth a '4' for this film from 1973.

The film's concept is certainly original, but the execution leaves much to be desired. For instance, the premise of a stage actor (Vincent Price) taking revenge on his critics is a fun concept. However, unfortunately, the Shakespeare plays with all their dialogue fail to captivate me, meaning that all those murders based on those plays didn't entertain me either. Often too lighthearted and sometimes even bland, given the precise execution of the various Shakespearean-style murders. Price fits the role perfectly, but unfortunately, this isn't my cup of tea. 4/10

Vincent Price is excellent as always and the murders are creative enough in this little horror film by director Douglas Hickox, but Theatre of Blood ultimately runs too long for its thin content. The concept works for about an hour, but then runs dry, and the theatrical finale offers little justification. Moreover, the cast apart from Price makes a significantly weaker and, above all, somewhat dull impression, but once Price himself takes the stage, it is pure enjoyment.
