Calamity Jane inherits the 'Prairie Queen' saloon from the late Frank Mullen. Cecelia Mullen, Frank's niece, disputes this assignment and has the support of attorney Gordon Hastings. Hastings has come to town through the intercession of Matt Baker, the owner of the competing saloon. Calamity and her assistant Colorado Charley then kidnap Hastings and explain to him that it is mainly Baker who should be seen as the evil genius.
