Nice movie, with an interesting story. Bet money on who is faster, bet on handshakes, and then organize a boxing fight. Awesome. I'm due for a rewatch on this one too. 3.5*

Stallone's first film after his Rocky breakthrough (and his first directorial effort) in which two brothers help the third in the wrestling world to make money. It is initially a dreary and darkly filmed family drama in a difficult economic period (the late 1940s). One brother, Cosmo, is a talker who only thinks about "easy money" while the second Lenny is a semi-disabled veteran. The fact that the third, Victor, is mentally weaker and has to suffer the whims of the other two makes him a somewhat pathetic follower. The ending isn't exactly original either. The side plots with the women are a dead end. Not entirely bad, but the film lacks strong scenes that should make it memorable.

Mediocre film about three different brothers in post-war New York. The story, which has enough potential in itself, is presented in a rather messy manner and despite a number of excellent scenes, the film is a bit long-winded. A fairly moody directorial debut from Sylvester Stallone.
