"Two Generations. Two Wars. One Story"
Memorial Day, 1993. When 13-year-old Kyle Vogel finds a World War II suitcase belonging to his grandfather Bud, everyone tells him to put it back. Kyle ignores this, however. Although Bud never talked about the war, he makes a deal with his grandson: Kyle can grab three souvenirs and Bud will tell him the stories behind it. This not only gives Kyle a look at Bud's complicated wartime past, but also the wartime that awaits Kyle in the future. As the two men share their parallel experiences in battle, they also come to realize how that magical day on the porch shaped both of their lives.
