A rumor has spread like wildfire among the soldiers: a disturbed woman who lived on the island has died at exactly 11:59 pm and it is believed that her ghost will return to haunt the soldiers at the exact same time. One of the recruits, Tan, the introverted misfit of the pack, is sure he will be the next victim of the mad woman's ghost. He tries to convince his friend Jeremy that the ghost visits him every night. Jeremy laughs at him and claims that ghosts don't exist in this world. But during the pack's 15-mile march into the woods, Tan's body is found dead by the river, with his limbs twisted in a strange way and an expression of deep fear on his face. Overwhelmed with guilt, Jeremy decides to investigate Tan's death, convinced it wasn't an accident, as the military leadership would have it believe.
